Why CrystalTV uses IBO Player
IBO Player is built by the development group IBODEV and installs on nearly every platform an IPTV subscriber is likely to own — including the closed-source Smart TV operating systems where most players simply do not exist. That coverage is the whole reason we standardised on it: supporting one application properly beats half-supporting six.
Two honest caveats before you start. The app has no recording function and no multi-screen mode, and it uses remote playlist activation — your credentials are registered on the IBO web portal, and their cloud pushes the playlist down to your device. That is one extra step, but it spares you typing an Xtream password on a TV remote.
Before you begin: have your CrystalTV activation email open. It contains the host address, username and password created when your order was provisioned.
1. Android phones, tablets and TV boxes
Get the installer
Install IBO Player from the Google Play Store where it is listed, or download the APK from the official IBODEV website. Android will warn that the file came from outside the store — that warning is expected for side-loaded APKs; choose Download anyway.
Install and open
Open the downloaded file, tap Install, and launch the app once it finishes.
Dismiss the intro screen
On first launch you get an introductory page explaining the playlist workflow. Read it if you like, then tap OK. The app loads to its dashboard and is ready for the playlist step below.
2. Windows 10 and 11
Download the desktop installer
The Windows build is 64-bit and requires Windows 10 or newer. Grab it from the IBODEV download page.
Get past SmartScreen
Windows Defender SmartScreen will block an unrecognised publisher. Click More info, then Run anyway to continue.
Complete the wizard
Click Next twice, optionally tick the desktop shortcut box, then Install and Finish. The app opens straight away.
3. Amazon Fire TV Stick
Install Downloader
From the Fire TV home screen, open search and type D — Downloader appears as the first suggestion. Install it and grant the media-access permission it asks for.
Enter the IBO Player code
Open Downloader, select the URL field and enter the official IBO Player Android code: 511693. Press Go and let the download finish without touching the remote.
Allow installs from Downloader
Fire OS blocks the install because the file is outside the Amazon store. Choose Settings → Install Unknown Apps and switch Downloader to ON. If Developer Options is not visible, open Settings → My Fire TV → About and press OK on the device name seven times.
Finish the install
Back out to Downloader and run the installer. Confirm the introductory message when the app first opens.
4. macOS
Install the app
Download the macOS build, open the disk image and drag the IBO Player icon into your Applications folder. Launch it from Launchpad.
Approve the unsigned app
macOS refuses the first launch because the app came from outside the App Store. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the security notice and click Open Anyway. The approval is permanent — later launches are instant.
5. LG webOS and Samsung Tizen televisions
Search the built-in store
Open the LG Content Store or the Samsung Apps store, use the magnifier icon and search for IBO Player.
Pick the right app
Several clones with near-identical names appear in results. Select the one named exactly Ibo Player and nothing else.
Install and launch
Choose Install, then Launch. A welcome message appears on first run — accept it and move to the playlist step. No side-loading, USB stick or developer mode is needed on either platform.
6. Registering your CrystalTV playlist
This is the part that trips people up, because it happens on a web browser rather than in the app.
Find your device details
In IBO Player, open the profile icon on the dashboard. Under Device Info you will see a MAC address and a device key. Write both down — they are the login for the portal.
Log in to Manage Playlist
On a phone or computer, open the IBO Player website and choose Manage Playlist from the top menu. Enter the MAC address and device key and sign in.
Add an XC playlist (recommended)
Click Add XC Playlist and fill in the three values from your CrystalTV activation email:
- Host — the server address we sent you
- Username — your line username
- Password — your line password
- Playlist name — type CrystalTV so it is obvious later
Click Save.
Or add an M3U line instead
If you were sent a single long streaming URL rather than separate credentials, choose Add Playlist instead, paste the URL into Playlist URL and name it. Leave XMLTV EPG URL empty — IBO Player pulls the programme guide from the playlist automatically. Ticking Protect This Playlist lets you set a PIN.
Reopen the app
Close IBO Player completely and relaunch it. The cloud pushes the playlist down and the full CrystalTV grid appears with its EPG.
7. Tuning the Live TV section
Out of the box, the Live TV layout is cramped: channel names overflow under the preview window and the programme guide sits awkwardly. There is a one-setting fix.
Switch the Live screen style
From the dashboard, click the screen icon next to the Wi-Fi symbol to open Live Screen Style. The default option produces the messy layout — switch to the alternative style and save. Channel names get their full width back and the mini preview and EPG line up properly.
Categories are hidden in that layout by design; press the left arrow on your remote (or the back gesture on a touch device) to bring them back.
Add favourites
From the channel list, press and hold OK on any channel and choose ADD. A heart appears beside the name and the channel joins the Favourites folder at the top of the category column — the fastest way to tame 22,000+ channels.
Search across every category
The search control sits in the bottom-left corner of the Live TV overview. It scans all categories at once, but it matches on specific terms rather than fuzzy guesses, so spell the network name properly.
8. Movies and series
The VOD section is deliberately simple. Titles are listed by newest addition by default, and three controls sit in the top-right corner: a palette icon that toggles between Modern and Normal themes, a downward arrow for sorting by date, rating or alphabet, and a magnifier for search. Press and hold OK on any title to drop it into your favourites folder.
With 95,000+ titles on the line, the sort control earns its keep. See what is in the catalogue on the channel lineup page.
9. Settings worth knowing
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Network | Shortcut to the device's own Wi-Fi settings. Use wired Ethernet on older Smart TVs if you can. |
| Parental control | PIN-locks categories. This is where the adult category is gated — it is off by default on CrystalTV lines. |
| Manage categories | Hide entire country or genre groups you never watch. The single biggest quality-of-life change on a large grid. |
| Live TV / VOD player | Switches the decoder used for playback. If a specific channel stutters, changing this often fixes it before support needs to. |
| Clear cache | First thing to try when the EPG looks stale or artwork fails to load. |
| Auto boot on start | Launches IBO Player automatically when the box powers on — handy on a dedicated TV stick. |
| Check for updates | Pulls the newest build. CrystalTV lines get free automatic updates on the server side regardless. |
10. The IBO Player licence
IBO Player is a paid application. It includes a short complimentary evaluation window of roughly five days, after which IBODEV asks for a one-off licence: about €5 for one year or €10 for lifetime activation. That payment goes to the app developer and is entirely separate from your CrystalTV subscription.
To buy it, open the IBO Player website, choose Activate Device, sign in with the same MAC address and device key, pick a payment method, accept the terms and check out. Close and reopen the app afterwards so the activation registers.
